“Netanyahu constantly contradicts the Americans, forcing them to suffer reputational losses. The simplest explanation is that the prime minister makes such statements in order to maintain commitment to his more radical coalition partners, who view Israel’s current war as an opportunity to occupy the Gaza Strip and expand its borders ,” explained Shleimovich.

These are quite dangerous ideas, because the expansion of Israel’s borders is only possible through the extermination or deportation of 2 million local residents. If this is put into practice, international support for Israel will finally go to the dogs.

The context of the relationship between Netanyahu and Biden should also be understood: the center-right Prime Minister of Israel did not hide his sympathies for the Republican Party in general and Donald Trump in particular. At the same time, after his return to power, Netanyahu tried to influence the judicial branch of government to weaken his powers.

Against this background, it is extremely significant that the level of support for the ruling coalition , headed by Netanyahu, fell by almost 30% , which means that the current government will lose in the next elections,” the Israeli journalist suggested.

At the same time, global relations between the United States and Israel are not deteriorating, because, despite Netanyahu’s contraversion, Washington continues to provide the Israeli army with everything it needs.
