Next week negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and UN representatives regarding the export of Ukrainian grain should take place. They will be held in Istanbul.

The purpose of the negotiations is to organize the process of grain export from Ukraine. They are allegedly to be joined by the UN Secretary General. The media write about this, referring to their sources.

A Turkish delegation will go to Russia before the talks

True, the final composition of the participants of the meeting is not specified. The UN has not yet announced the exact date of possible negotiations.

It is reported that before that a Turkish military delegation will leave for Russia to discuss steps that can be taken to export grain through Ukrainian ports. According to media reports, the transportation of goods by sea can begin within a month after reaching a certain agreement.

In June, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara considers the UN plan to export Ukrainian grain feasible. The curtain was lifted on the discussion of the mechanism for creating a “grain corridor” in the Black Sea with the participation of the UN, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.

Russia blocks ports and steals Ukrainian grain

  • Since the beginning of a full-scale war Russia blocked the Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea. The Ministry of Agriculture estimates that more than 20 million tons of commonly exported grain is now blocked in these ports.
  • Ukraine is a major grain exporter. Our nation grows enough food each year to feed 400 million people. We produce 42% of the world's sunflower oil, 16% of corn and 9% of wheat. The UN stressed that if this problem is not solved, millions will face starvation.
  • Russia is stealing Ukrainian grain that captures satellite images. The aggressor state takes it to Syria and tries to sell it illegally.
  • Ukraine has developed 2 routes for grain export – through the territory of Romania and Poland. They also want to open a third route, which is negotiated with the Baltic countries.
