On November 22, the 7th Ukrainian Women's Congress started in Kyiv, the slogan of which is women's leadership. This congress confirms the European spirit of Ukraine.
According to the moderator of the congress, ICTV TV presenter Yana Brenzei , even at this time, in the second year of the great war, people in Kiev are talking about people's rights, women's rights, and the fundamental values of the European Union.
“Even at a time when we are fighting for our state, we understand what kind of state we want to build – a state open to everyone, a state in which everyone has prospects and can realize them,” the speaker noted.
According to her, there are indeed many achievements in Ukraine regarding gender equality. Among the requirements of the European Union to begin negotiations on Ukraine's membership, for example, there were no requirements for gender policy, and all because Ukraine at this stage meets these requirements.

It is clear that a lot of work needs to be done in order to fully implement European legislation in the field of gender equality, but Ukraine has already done a lot.
— We talked about supporting women's entrepreneurship. We heard incredible stories of women entrepreneurs, women who work in the field of education. The voices of Ukrainian politicians were heard, who work for Ukraine on an equal basis with men,” noted Yana Brenzei.
The congress moderator spoke about women's problems. For example, there was a story about a deputy of a village council who was forced to resign her mandate because she could not go abroad to a rally for the release of prisoners of war from Azovstal.
It is at the Ukrainian Women's Congress that one can hear different stories of women, discuss problems and look for solutions together.
According to Yana Brenzei, it is very important to give your best at the congress and share both your experience and your stories. It is also important to understand that respect for women's rights and the possibility of women's realization is something that not only women are interested in, but the entire society should be interested in.
— After all, when we neglect the potential of women, we neglect the potential of more than half of the state. When we neglect the potential of women, this means that men must take on additional work,” notes the congress moderator.
When women talk about their rights, they do not take anything away from anyone – women simply want to also have the opportunity to be elected, to be heard, to be realized. Gender equality is what will make our country better, more comfortable and safer for everyone.
