Bulgaria expelled Russian journalist and correspondent for Rossiyskaya Gazeta Alexander Gatsak from the country due to a threat to the country's national security. He was suspected of espionage.

On September 21, Gatsak was summoned to the migration department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and later to DANS. However, the Russian refused to appear and “hid in the Russian Embassy.”
