Mysterious drones have been flying over America for a month now, and they were even seen over Trump's golf course Irina Chebotnikova

In the state of New Jersey, people have been seeing a number of large drones for several weeks in a row. The aircraft are hovering over bodies of water and military installations. Channel 24 has collected the details.

The Pentagon said that the drones were not launched by Iran or any foreign countries. That's how they responded to the Republicans' statements. But so far no one has an answer as to what is flying over America.

New Jersey residents are demanding answers, however, the state governor Murphy says that they pose no threat. Federal investigators are also inclined to this opinion, but who launched these drones and why – they do not yet know.

UAVs have already been seen over homes, businesses and public places, namely:

  • over Picatinny Arsenal – a military research and production center in the state of New Jersey;
  • over Donald Trump's golf course in Bedminster Township;
  • a dozen drones followed a Coast Guard motorized lifeboat;
  • were near boats near Island Beach State Park;
  • most of the drones were spotted along coastal areas, with some flying over the large reservoir in Clinton.

Generally speaking, the area ranges from New York to New Jersey and west to parts of Pennsylvania, particularly Philadelphia.

There were 60 drones hovering over New Jersey bodies of water, apparently monitoring infrastructure.

The FBI's Newark field office and New Jersey State Police have been investigating the reports for about a month, and the Federal Aviation Administration has placed restrictions on drone flights near Bedminster and Picatinny Hills while authorities investigate, the WP article says.

The AP added that the UAVs spotted were significantly larger than those typically flown by amateurs. Some were up to two meters in diameter. They are undetectable by radar. The devices fly mainly at night, but turn off their lights and avoid police helicopters when approached.

Republican Representative Jeff Van Drew called for shooting down drones. In his opinion, it is time to act – unidentified drones cannot fly freely in US airspace without consequences.

20 Morris County mayors are demanding a full investigation of these incidents. In their letter, officials ask to determine the origin of the drones and the purpose of their flights. And they complain that they have not yet received satisfactory answers, despite submitting various requests.

Senator Cory Booker is asking the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Federal Aviation Administration to brief local authorities on the current situation.

Another senator said that New Jersey should declare a limited state of emergency and ban all drones.

Interestingly, during a meeting of the House Committee on Homeland Security, a representative of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that federal investigators have not yet been able to identify the mysterious drones.

Sabrina Singh said: “Our initial assessment is that these are not drones or activities originating from a foreign entity or adversary.” This was the Pentagon's response to Republicans' accusations that there was a ship off the coast of the United States that was launching drones.

The governor emphasized that the authorities were taking the situation deadly seriously. But since there were no answers, people's frustration was understandable.

CNN's article came out with a headline about fear and frustration in New Jersey.
