Murder of Ermakov: German police detained three more suspects

German police arrested three more teenagers on suspicion of involvement in the murder of 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player Vladimir Ermakov.

On the morning of February 16, the police announced the detention of a 14-year-old German of Greek origin from Herne and two Syrians — 14 and 15 years old — from Gelsenkirchen.

They are charged with murder, attempted murder and infliction of grievous bodily harm.

One of them was already detained after the murder of Ermakov, but then released due to the inconclusiveness of the evidence at that time.

German police are also checking the involvement of those arrested in other similar crimes.

Murder of basketball player Ermakov in Germany

On February 10, 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player Vladimir Ermakov was killed in Germany due to xenophobia. He was fatally stabbed at the train station in Oberhausen.

Ermakov’s friend and teammate Artem Kozachenko was also wounded.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry took special control of the investigation into the murder of a 17-year-old boy.

The main suspect remains a 15-year-old German of Turkish origin, who was arrested on February 11, the day after the murder of basketball player Ermakov.
