In Zaporozhye MP priests gathered for a sabbath/Collage 24 channels held a general meeting of the clergy in Zaporozhye.
It was attended by 182 priests. A correspondent from Zaporozhye told Channel 24 about this.
As they themselves say, they discussed “the problems of the canonical status of their church, which arose as a result of hostilities.” However, they did not specify who was fighting with whom and who attacked whom. That is, the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin or Russia was not mentioned at all.
However, as the journalist said, the priests were asked to vote “how to live on.” They had several options:
- to remain in their current positions;
- evaluate the patriarch (or oligarch) Kirill Gundyaev;
- terminate his powers;< /li>
- merge with another religious organization.
So, out of 182 priests – 150 of them voted to leave everything as it is. That is, they are not going to change their “policy” in Zaporozhye and will continue to hold on to Russian influence.
What is the attitude of the Moscow Patriarchate to the Russian attack on Ukraine
- This is a rhetorical question , after all, it is put in the same way as anything in Moscow to the actions of its leadership.
- After the annexation of Crimea and certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, the UOC-MP incited sectarian hatred, talked about a fratricidal civil war, and cooperated with the occupation administrations all these years.
- In Russia, Patriarch Kirill even blessed the military for the war against Ukraine.< /li>
- So even under such circumstances, the Russian Orthodox Church continues to work in Ukraine. Therefore, Ukrainians are being urged to support the petition to ban the Moscow Patriarchate
- Recall that the bill to ban the Russian Orthodox Church in Parliament was registered by MP Inna Sovsun.
Churches withdraw from the MP
Subsequently, churches in Ukraine began to leave the Moscow Patriarchate. That is why, in May 2022, in Boryslav, Lviv region, local authorities banned the activities of the UOC-MP. The corresponding decision will come into force on June 1.
On May 4, the activities of the Moscow Patriarchate were banned in Konotop, Sumy region. The Konotop City Council said that there is no difference between the enemy and his agent.
