And what about the air and missile defense of Moscow in general? Before the new year 2023, the Russians announced that 20 thousand anti-aircraft gunners would cover their capital for the holidays.
How the Kremlin made holes in the “shield” over Moscow
Everything looked like the Russians were indeed bringing additional air defense systems to Moscow.
But on the other hand, a fairly monstrous formation should provide anti-missile and air defense of the capital of a terrorist country. We are talking about the 1st Air Defense Army, consisting of two anti-aircraft missile divisions with S-300 and S-400 systems, one missile defense division and support units.
It would seem that the Russians, in principle, have nothing to fear with such a powerful missile shield over Moscow. But it seems that the Kremlin itself has made “holes” in such a “shield”. Now he has reason to be afraid of every movement that could mean the delivery of “cotton” from Ukraine deep into Russia.
In order to bombard our cities with S-300 complexes, the Russians took away a significant part of the launchers that covered almost front-line Rostov, or even inviolable St. Petersburg.
Indeed, the Russians have a reserve of 7,000 missiles for the S-300 air defense system, which can be used to strike at our civilian infrastructure. But the nuance is that this number includes not only missiles of the 5V55 type and its modifications, but also 48N6 and its modifications, also fired from the S-400. Therefore, the Russians get it right: in the words of their air defense “has no analogues”, but in fact the “cotton” successfully reaches even the Engels airfield.
Can “cotton” visit Moscow
With the anti-missile defense of Moscow – a separate interesting and colorful story. To protect against intercontinental ballistic missiles of a potential enemy, 68 mines for anti-missiles of the 53T6 type of the A-135 “Amur” complex are located around Moscow. They were taken on combat duty back in the 1970s.
In the 2010s, the Amur complex became hopelessly outdated, and all the regulatory deadlines for anti-missiles were exhausted. The A-235 “Nudol” complex was supposed to come to replace it, but they could not start its mass production. But they found another “application” for “Nudol” – from time to time to threaten that Elon Musk's satellites will be shot down with this system.
The Russians themselves really understand that Moscow's air defense and anti-missile defense systems exist rather “on paper.” Otherwise, their propagandists would not have told fables that, for example, they have 400 tactical nuclear charges for the S-300 air defense system.
Yes, on New Year's Eve, Muscovites did not run for shelter to the sound of sirens. But this does not mean that the “Swift” with “cotton” will not reach them.
But there were “pops” on the elements of Russia's energy infrastructure. It's really very good. The more shattered the Russian power supply system for industry, the more difficult it will be for them to produce high-tech weapons. Like, for example, cruise missiles for new attacks on our cities.
All the most colorful and “cotton” on the way to our Victory is yet to come.
