Despite “everything is going according to plan” and “no father,” the issue of mobilization still remains relevant in Russia. More than half a million people have probably already mobilized there, according to opposition investigators. But no matter how many Russians Putin plans to send to war in Ukraine, there are two very important problems for the occupiers.
They were voiced by military expert Andrei Kharuk on the air of Channel 24 . We are talking about logistics and lack of weapons.
How many people can be called
Andrei Kharuk notes that, by the standards of the 20th century, it is theoretically possible to mobilize up to 10% of the country's population. However, in practice, the Russians will not be able to do this.
“They won’t even be able to come close to this indicator due to the presence of a “bottleneck” – these are their abilities, figuratively speaking, to digest these “chmobiks”. There were figures that according to various estimates, from 90 to 120 thousand mobilized,” said Haruk.
Therefore, the Russians could send their mobilized for training to the Belarusian training grounds. And also, with the start of the draft, mobilization was suspended, because they could not train both recruits and mobilized at the same time.

The first problem is uniforms.
If Russia does manage to mobilize up to half a million new cannon fodder, they will instantly face two problems. The first is logistical support.
“These are such primitive things as uniforms or personal protective equipment. We are faced with the fact that these masses of mobilized people need body armor. They will not have enough of their own production,” the military expert said.
The second problem is weapons
According to the information voiced by the expert, Russia can produce 20-25 tanks and restore several dozen more. Against the backdrop of losses, this is minuscule.
“We recently saw photos of the BTR-50 returning to service. By the way, their production was completed in 1970. These are outdated vehicles, but the Russians must return them to service, since their own production is not enough. According to rumors, when the mobilized were trained in artillery units, they were thrown into battle like simple infantry – there are not enough artillery, guns, ”Andrei Kharuk gave concrete examples.
Mobilization in Russia: what is known
- Experts believe that Putin looks up to Stalin and is trying to carry out the war with his methods. However, he does not have the mobilization resource that was in the Soviet Union in the 1940s.
- At the end of February, The NYT wrote in its material about hundreds of thousands of mobilized.
- The American Institute for the Study of War explained why “Russia's Unlimited Mobilization Resource” is a myth.
