More than 60% of NATO citizens support continued assistance to Ukraine

The majority of citizens of the countries of the North Atlantic bloc (61%) support the continuation of assistance to Ukraine to combat Russia’s armed aggression.

This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted on the eve of the NATO summit in Washington.

As in previous polls on the eve of NATO summits, respondents were asked about their attitude towards a full-scale war by Russia against Ukraine.

Almost two-thirds of those surveyed in NATO countries believe that Russia’s war against Ukraine has affected the security and defense of their countries (63%).

The vast majority of respondents (61%) believe that their country should continue to support Ukraine in the fight against the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the majority of respondents in NATO member states believe that their country should defend other allies in the event of an attack (63%).

At the same time, 70% of respondents answered that they would vote in a referendum for their country to continue membership in the Alliance.

Popular support in NATO countries for increasing defense spending has reached 76% and continues to grow. At the same time, among other expenditure items, increasing defense spending received the greatest commitment from 41% of respondents.

In particular, the majority of respondents have a negative attitude towards Russia and China (62% towards Russia, 48% towards China).

The sociological survey was conducted in all 32 NATO member countries. In total, more than 30 thousand respondents were surveyed.

We would like to remind you that on July 9-11, Washington will host an anniversary NATO summit dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the creation of the military bloc.

A full-scale war in Ukraine is expected to be one of the main issues during the meeting.
