Why there was a delay in US aid
The US Congress tried to approve the package of American military aid to Ukraine for almost six months.
Problems with the adoption of the budget in the United States began in September 2023.
The biggest controversy in the United States has arisen over funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which handles migration on its own southern border. It was this issue that delayed the adoption of the aid budget for Ukraine and Israel.
Later, House Speaker Mike Johnson introduced four separate bills to help Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and national security priorities. This made it possible to quickly review the support package.
The day before, Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said that Ukraine needs the help of allies and partners, otherwise the Third World War could begin.
According to him, if it is not possible to protect the state, then Ukraine will collapse and the global security system will be destroyed.
According to the Prime Minister, there may be many conflicts and wars, which will eventually lead to World War III, so he called on the US Congress to accept military aid to Ukraine.
