More than 50,000 apartments will be allocated to IDPs in Ukraine in 2022. The apartments will be provided with repairs and minimal equipment.

The President set the task to develop a strategy for the restoration of Ukraine

During the briefing, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko said that Volodymyr Zelensky set the task of developing a strategy for the restoration and modernization of Ukraine, Channel 24 reports.

“A country with a new vision. Modernity, which will change the Soviet approach to urban planning, architecture and planning of the territory of Ukraine. This is the main vector for the development of a restoration and modernization plan, on which we are actively working with all municipal representatives and UVA,” Tymoshenko said.

He noted that the OP is currently working on creating a database of the needs of all settlements. Zelensky plans to switch to the concept of restoration and modernization by May 5.

186,000 IDPs will receive apartments

Deputy Andriy Yermak said that in 2022 the state plans to provide more than 53,000 apartments for IDPs. Homes will be given to people who have been waiting in line for housing for years.

During this year, we plan to provide more than 53,000 apartments for our 186,000 IDPs,” he said.

Tymoshenko said that the apartments will be provided with repairs and minimal equipment with appliances and furniture.

“All apartments will be state-owned. After people return to their homes, these apartments will be provided to people who for years stood in line for housing,” the deputy head of the Presidential Office summed up.

What is known about IDPs in Ukraine

  • As a result of Russia's full-scale war, more than 2 million internally displaced persons have already registered in Ukraine . The relevant data was reported in the Ministry of Social Policy.
  • More internally displaced persons were registered in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Dnepropetrovsk and Kyiv regions.
  • The Office of the President reported that almost 600,000 apartments are needed to provide migrants with housing.
