More than 160 cultural heritage sites were damaged as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. All the crimes of the Russian military are recorded in order for the Russian Federation to pay reparations in the future.
There is no information about objects in the occupied territories
The Minister of Culture and Information Policy Alexander Tkachenko said this on the air of the national telethon, channel 24 reports.
He said that at the moment it has already been recorded more than 160 cultural heritage sites that have been damaged or destroyed due to Russian aggression.
According to Tkachenko, the website of the ministry keeps records of objects that were damaged by the occupiers. He noted that there is no information about some of the objects, since they are in cities that are temporarily occupied.
Today we keep official records on the ministry’s page, these are about 166 cultural heritage sites , which were subjected to decision or were damaged during the Russian invasion. We don’t know about some objects yet, because they are in completely occupied territories,” Tkachenko said.
The minister added that all the crimes of Russians against the cultural heritage of Ukraine are documented so that later destroyed objects can be restored thanks to reparations from Russia.
At the same time, Ukraine is discussing with partners the creation of a fund so that in the future they will join the restoration of cultural sites.
“We are also talking with our Western partners about the need to create a joint fund of countries who support us, who, after the victory, would be engaged in the restoration and restoration of the cultural heritage of Ukraine,” the minister concluded.
