An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in China. At least 118 deaths, hundreds of injuries and thousands of destroyed buildings are already known.

The earthquake occurred at 23:59 local time (15:59 GMT) in Zishan County in northwestern China's Gansu Province on Monday at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has already declared a level four emergency.

Rescue efforts continue. It is already known that the number of victims has increased to at least 118.

As of 07:50 Tuesday, 105 people have died in Gansu province. 397 were injured. Media also reported that 16 people were in critical condition.

The death toll in Qinghai rose to at least 13. 182 people were injured.

State news agency Xinhua reported that the earthquake damaged 6,381 buildings in Jishishan.
