“Map of Destruction” officially launched in Ukraine

Many objects of civilian infrastructure, cultural, etc. have already suffered from the hands of the invader. To show the scale of Russian crimes, the NGO “Anti-Corruption Headquarters” launched a “Map of Destruction”.

This is a digital platform that captures the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Photos of destroyed or damaged civilian objects are added there: houses, schools, churches, stadiums, etc. Photos are found and added with the exact address and coordinates.

There are already 1,500 destroyed objects on our map. There is a counter installed on the site – and it has not stopped for a day. Our map is unique: unlike other similar resources, it contains a photo of the building before “denatification,” said Sergey Mitkalik, chairman of the board of the Anti-Corruption Headquarters.

Why this project was created

According to the authors of the project, they created ” Destruction Map” to help rebuild Ukraine. The site has accounts of the United24 platform, where everyone is asked to transfer funds. That is, the platform is focused mainly on foreign users.

The British, French or Germans are hard to beat by the amount of damage or the amount of destruction. But they can go to the site and see what the “Russian world” has brought with it. what was “before” and what was left “after,” the release says.

It is noted that information about the destruction on the platform is covered both in Ukrainian and in English.

In the long term, photos from the map will be used in The Hague as evidence of Russian war crimes in Ukraine.

What will happen to the “Map of Destruction” after our victory

After Ukraine wins in the war against bloodthirsty Russia, the digital platform will prolong life and will be merged with the “Repair Map”. This is another of the projects of the Anti-Corruption Headquarters, where analysts track the movement of budget funds and expose abuses of repairs.

The project is being implemented with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
