In Montenegro, the suspect in the mass murder in the city of Cetinje, Aco Martinovic, committed suicide. He did this after he was surrounded by police.

According to Police Director Lazar Šćepanović and Interior Minister Daniilo Šaranović, Martinovic shot himself after law enforcement officers surrounded him and called on him to surrender. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to Vijesti.

What is known about the arrest of the killer

The suspect was accused of killing at least 10 people in the city of Cetinje on January 1. After lengthy attempts to avoid arrest, he shot himself in the head. The police tried to take him to the Clinical Center of Montenegro, but he died on the way.

The police director thanked the Martinovic family, who, according to him, helped the police find the suspect.

It is known that all the victims were acquaintances of Martinovic – his friends and relatives with whom he spent a lot of time. The motive for this crime remains unknown.

They reported that he had certain social deviations, and all the victims were his godparents, friends or acquaintances with whom he spent most of his time. The motive for this act is still unknown, – said Šćepanović.

Recall that on January 1 in Cetinje, in western Montenegro, a man opened fire, first killing four people in the Velestovo bar. Later, he attacked people in three other places in the city. Among the victims were three women and two boys, brothers aged 10 and 13. In total, at least 10 people died.
