The new package, in particular, includes additional funding for the future transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine . In addition, assistance from Denmark includes air defense, as well as contributions to donate additional artillery pieces, shells and anti-tank mines to Ukraine.

Details about assistance

On May 16, Denmark announced a new, already 16th, package of military assistance for Ukraine. Its amount is 750 million euros.

As reported by the country's Ministry of Defense, the emphasis is on both air defense and artillery. In addition, it contains contributions for the future transfer of the F-16.

In addition, we are also reserving additional funds for direct investment in the Ukrainian defense industry, just as we are allocating additional funds for the future transfer of F-16s to Ukraine, which is planned for this summer,” said Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

Of the 5.6 billion Danish kroner, 2.4 billion, or 349 million euros, will be used to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. In addition, part of the funds is allocated for the purchase of artillery pieces, grenades and anti-tank mines. The assistance also includes an amount for the maintenance of equipment already provided.

As part of the package, the government also provides additional funds that will be invested directly in the Ukrainian defense industry. It makes sense to produce weapons where they are used, and by those who use them. We are also talking about the future defense capability of Ukraine. Ukraine has skills, but lacks funding, said Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

Danish Defense Minister Poulsen said that the situation in Ukraine is very serious. Both donations will be provided now. Denmark is ready to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry. According to the politician, Ukraine’s struggle is also their struggle.

Transfer of F-16 to Ukraine

Earlier, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that her country's F-16s would be in the skies over Ukraine within months. The total number of aircraft will be 19.

Also in the first half of May, the Czech Republic transferred the first F-16 fighter simulator to Ukraine. Our specialists are already testing and preparing the main module for operation. This simulator allows you to simulate events that will occur in the airspace.
