The State Special Communications Service reports that fraudsters have developed a new scheme to deceive Ukrainians in order to extract information about bank cards using so-called surveys with “cash rewards.”

This is stated in a statement from the service.

According to the State Special Communications Service, fraudsters are distributing messages on social networks and messengers, allegedly on behalf of the bank, about a “cash reward” for completing a short survey.

“Such messages contain links to a phishing decoy page stylized using the bank’s official identity,” the statement said.

The victim then goes to a website where they take a survey. They are asked to enter their phone number, the code from the SMS, and the PIN code.

– Fraudsters use the obtained data to link the user’s account to a new device or for online authorization in the bank’s application, which allows them to withdraw funds from the victim’s account, – the State Special Communications Service explains.

They warn that in order to avoid fraud, you should carefully check the website address before entering your payment card details or passwords, as phishing pages can look like the real thing.

They also urge you to trust only official sources and check information about surveys and payments on the official websites of institutions, and also not to follow links from messages and to search for the desired website yourself using a search.

If you do become a victim of fraud, the State Special Communications Service suggests that you seek help from your bank and file a complaint with the Cyber Police.
