Moldova election results: what Maia Sandu should prepare for after Alexandru Sadovaya's victory

According to the results of the presidential elections in Moldova, the current leader Maia Sandu won. Moldova is still choosing the pro-European path. However, there are parliamentary elections ahead, in which Russia will also try to interfere.

Maia Sandu and her team must be ready to do everything to maintain the pro-European vector of Moldova, despite all the attempts of the Kremlin. This was noted to 24 Kanal by the chief consultant of the National Institute for Strategic Studies Ivan Us.

A task for Sandu

Ivan Us noted that Russia suffered two important defeats in Moldova. The first was in the results of the referendum on the state's membership in the European Union, which took place on October 20, 2024. The citizens still cast more votes for the pro-European course.

Moscow suffered its second defeat in the Moldovan presidential elections. According to the results, 55.33% of voters voted for Maia Sandu, and 44.67% for the pro-Russian candidate Alexandru Stoianoglo. That is, Maia Sandu remains in the presidential chair and can prepare for the parliamentary elections in Moldova in 2025, which Russia will also try to influence.

The Eurovector remains in Moldova. This will certainly be a task for Sandu, her team and the countries that are trying in every possible way to promote Moldova's European integration. First of all, I mean Romania, so that I can continue to explain to the population that the European path is the right one, and they need to move on, – emphasized the chief consultant of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

It is important for Moldova to maintain a pro-European direction. Russia can again act with opposition forces that will try to push the state in a different direction.
