United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced that Washington will allocate another $1 billion defense aid package for Ukraine.

He said this at the beginning of the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format, which is being held on Friday, April 26, in an online format.

—I am pleased to announce that the United States will provide, under Presidential authority, another $1 billion aid package that will include additional HIMARS ammunition, 155mm rounds, air defense capabilities and armored vehicles, — Austin stated.

According to him, the allies will pay special attention to strengthening Ukrainian air defense. Also priority issues will be artillery and armored vehicles.

In addition, Lloyd Austin reported that the first F-16 fighters will begin arriving in Ukraine this year, along with trained pilots and personnel who will maintain the aircraft.
