Sanna Marin visited Irpin

The head of the Finnish government visited the city of Irpin as part of her visit to Ukraine , who suffered from the Russian military during the occupation.

Marin met with the secretary of the Irpin City Council, Angela Makeeva.

The Prime Minister of Finland was shown the consequences of the Russian occupation. We also discussed issues of assistance in the restoration of Irpin with Marin.

We add that in April, President Zelensky addressed the Finnish Parliament. Then the head of state called on Finland to join the restoration of Ukraine, in particular, in the field of education.

Finland began its course towards NATO

  • Finland, together with Sweden, support Ukraine in the war with Russia. Moreover, Russian aggression forced Helsinki and Stockholm to change their position on military neutrality.
  • Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, both countries decided to join NATO and on May 18 officially applied to join the Alliance. President Zelensky said that Russia pushed the Finns and Swedes to decide to join NATO. Now NATO's borders can border Russia.
  • According to experts' forecasts, the Scandinavian countries can get membership at the next NATO summit, which will be held in Madrid this summer. At the same time, they will join the Alliance without the so-called MAP (Membership Action Plan).
  • Turkey is trying to block the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO, which accuses these countries of terrorism.
