Mexico has refused to accept one plane with deported illegal immigrants from the United States, – NBC News Sofia Rozhik

The US deported illegal migrants to Mexico on Thursday, January 23. However, the US says that Mexican authorities refused to allow one plane to land, which “temporarily disrupted the Trump administration's plans.”

Two Guatemalan Air Force C-17s, each carrying about 80 people, carried the deportees out of the United States, but a third plane did not take off with them. This was reported by Channel 24, citing NBC News.

Mexico against Trump's “unilateral” actions regarding migrants

The White House later stated that “the matter with the flights was an administrative issue and was quickly corrected.”

Yesterday (January 23 – Channel 24) Mexico received a record 4 deportation flights in 1 day! – press secretary Caroline Levitt later stated.

At the same time, Mexico says that it does not support Trump's “unilateral” actions on immigration standards, in particular his “Remain in Mexico” policy, due to which migrants are forced to remain there until they are granted asylum.

The Mexican government noted that transporting deportees to another country requires cooperation with it. Although they had previously declared their readiness to cooperate with the United States to accept their deported citizens.

“Mexico has very good relations with the US government, and we cooperate with respect for our sovereignty on a wide range of issues, including migration. When it comes to repatriation, we will always welcome the arrival of Mexicans on our territory with open arms. Mexico embraces you,” the Foreign Ministry wrote.

However, tensions between the neighboring US and Mexico, which had been long-standing allies, did appear after Trump's victory in the election.

He, in particular, threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Mexico as revenge for migrants who cross the common border of these countries.
