The verdict was announced to the former head of the board of Ukreximbank, Evgeniy Metzger. He was fined for attacking Scheme journalists. We tell you how much he should pay.
Yevgeny Metzger's attack on Schemes journalists Kirill Ovsyany and Alexander Mazur has gained considerable resonance. Now it has become known how the lawsuit against the former head of the board of Ukreximbank ended.
A ridiculous fine was imposed for the attack
that the Goloseevsky District Court of Kyiv on September 14 issued a verdict in a case involving an attack on journalists. The judges found guilty:
- Yevgeny Metsger, former chairman of the board of Ukreximbank,
- Igor Telbizov, former director of the banking security department of the institution,
- Oleg Osipov, head of the department of internal security at Ukreximbank.
The ministers of Themis imposed fines on each of them. Immediately make a reservation that the amounts are hilarious. So, Metzger must pay 200 thousand rubles . We are talking about 3400 hryvnia. At the same time, the court decision did not deprive him of the opportunity to hold certain positions. As for Telbizov and Osipov, they must pay a fine of 1,700 hryvnia each.
A decision is a decision, a court is a court. We accept it as it is. I can agree, I can disagree. I will talk with my lawyers, we will read the decision, we will read all the arguments and we will decide whether to file or not to file (an appeal – Channel 24), Metzger commented on the court decision.
Journalists will file an appeal
A lawyer for the injured journalists noted that they would appeal. According to Ovsiany and Mazur, the judges groundlessly closed the criminal proceedings. Recall that it is said about Article 146 “Illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping.” The sentence in this case may include from 3 to 5 years in prison.
Recall that on October 4, 2021, Schemes journalists interviewed Yevgeny Metzger. During it, a question was asked regarding a significant foreign currency loan secured by a distressed asset. His “Ukreximbank” issued to a businessman whose taxes go to the “DPR”. The head of the board did not like this question, so he ordered the guards not only to “take away the cameras”, but also to “get the cassettes out of them”.
