Metinfest continues to hold the Steel Front. The group of Rinat Akhmetov and Vadim Novinsky donated more than 500 tons of steel plates to the Lviv Defense Cluster for free. LOK specialists made 80,000 bulletproof vests from Metinvest-SMC bulletproof steel, which were handed over to Ukrainian defenders.
All Ukrainians united in the fight against the Russian invaders. Big business does not stand aside, which is increasingly cooperating in order to implement incredible projects in collaboration with colleagues and organizations. So an example of effective interaction is the partnership between Metinvest-SMC and the Lviv Defense Cluster. Together, they managed to create and transfer to the front 80 thousand body armor.
“Metinvest-SMC is well versed in steel. Therefore, our role in confronting enemies was quite obvious to us: as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, we undertook to provide metal. First for defense structures and fortifications, and later began to supply armored steel to manufacturers of protective ammunition. Currently, the Lviv Defense Cluster has received more than 500 tons of steel sheets from Metinvest-SMC free of charge. This material is already protecting our military on the front lines. This is our contribution to the victory of Ukraine,” said Igor Tonev, CEO of Metinvest-SMC.

Lvov Defense Cluster was able to organize production from scratch during the war
The cluster brings together specialists from defense enterprises and volunteers, as well as production facilities throughout Ukraine. Therefore, they managed to organize the production of bulletproof vests from scratch during the war. All products of the Lviv Defense Cluster are carefully checked for quality, in particular, they are tested in their own laboratory. Only after that, the finished body armor is sent to the Ukrainian defenders.We managed to establish the production of high-quality bulletproof vests transferred to the front. Thanks to reliable partners, including Metinvest-SMC, we have produced 80,000 of them. Our goal is to reach the figure of 100,000 body armor in the near future. All ammunition meets state standards and military requirements. The materials have been tested and shot, – shared the chairman of the board of the Lviv Defense Cluster Maxim Plekhov.
In addition, the Lviv Defense Cluster creates body armor for doctors, and for juvenile services has developed and produces protective kits for the evacuation of children.
“We have a powerful team of specialists, so with the support of large businesses, we can do more for Ukraine and Ukrainians,” he added.

Metinvest-SMC, within the framework of the military initiative, Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front from the first days of the war began to donate metal for the manufacture of anti-tank hedgehogs. In total, 75 thousand barrier structures throughout Ukraine were made from Metinvest's metal.
