German ex-chancellor Angela Merkel rejected the possibility of participating in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. At the same time, she believes that the war will still end “at the negotiating table.”
The politician also noted that she does not know exactly how the war could end. However, the question of her participation in this process, according to her, “is not worth it.”
“One day it will end with negotiations. Wars end at the negotiating table,” Merkel said.
According to her, there is a difference “between a forced peace, which she, like many others, does not want, and an open and friendly conversation.”
It is unlikely that Ukrainians are ready for “sincere peace” or, as Merkel put it, ” sincere conversation”, and the aggressor country does not share such principles, Russia knows only the language of force, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine clearly showed to the enemy. Therefore, the war is still moving towards an end, but with the titanic efforts of the Defense Forces, and it is they who will end it with the victory of the Ukrainian people.
Merkel is convinced that she did the right thing
The politician also noted that, being in the position of German chancellor, she made decisions on Russia and Ukraine, guided by the logic that she still considers reasonable.
“It was about trying to prevent a war like the current one. Then that it failed does not mean that the attempt was wrong,” Merkel added.

- Earlier, the German ex-chancellor said that she did not consider her decision to increase the purchase of natural gas from Russia wrong. According to her, then it was more profitable than liquefied natural gas.

Then in the Office of the President she was accused of playing along with Russia. In particular, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the Presidential Office, said that Merkel herself is one of the reasons for the full-scale war in Ukraine.
