According to them, the transportation of sanctioned goods by rail is allowed, but not by road. This on the air of Channel 24 was commented by the MEP from Lithuania, Petras Auštrevičius.

The European Commission was pressed

He stated that he is a critic of such decisions and does not consider them good at the political and strategic levels. Auštrevičius added that the European Commission played a decisive role in lifting the ban, but he knows that some countries put pressure on it in this matter.

I I understand that there are provocations, pressure and various ultimatums that constantly come from Moscow. But this is how we show our weakness,” the MEP said.

Auštrevičius acknowledged that, despite the fact that the transit of sanctioned goods is allowed only by rail, Russian suppliers have the opportunity to transport other goods by road. According to him, Lithuania has 2 corridors that are “ajar” for Russian supplies to Kaliningrad and from Kaliningrad.

“Kaliningrad is part of Russia, which is an aggressor. And this is a kind of the strengthening of the economic and social situation in Kaliningrad, which I really do not like,” he added.

In addition, the MEP said that Moscow again put forward another ultimatum and expressed its dissatisfaction with the exit from the market of the Lithuanian bank that served the railway. This, they say, will prevent the Russians from making the necessary transfers and operations.

This only illustrates that if you contacted the Russian side, there will always be the quality of additional and subsequent ultimatums and dissatisfaction,” he summed up.
