The meeting of the EU ambassadors has ended: there is still a long way to go before the approval of the 6th package of sanctions against Russia, – journalist

Yozvyak noted that there is still no agreement between the ambassadors of the EU countries Consistency/Collage Channel 24

EU ambassadors met to discuss the 6th package of sanctions against Russia. It is known that this time again it was not possible to reach an agreement.

Rikard Jozwiak, a journalist from Radio Liberty, wrote about this on his Twitter. He noted that an agreement between all EU countries on sanctions against Russia is still far away.

The result of the meeting is a large number of exceptions and derogations

Yozvyak said that the meeting of EU ambassadors itself was over, but did not bring the desired results. He added that some leaders may make adjustments. And the sixth package of sanctions against Russia itself is far from being agreed upon. Like, there were “many exceptions and deviations.”

Let's note that he spoke about this on the eve of the meeting of the same ambassadors. Yozwiak stressed that the new package of sanctions received a new amendment. Accordingly, the European Council called for the issue of “temporary exemption for pipeline crude oil” to be addressed as soon as possible.

Borrell, on the other hand, believed that agreements were almost reached

During the broadcast, he stressed that all ambassadors need to unanimously make a decision. And this despite the fact that there were active discussions on this issue both yesterday and today (May 30).

At the same time, he was convinced that Hungary would not prevent the adoption of the sixth package of sanctions against Russia. However, I had to make some concessions.Yes, the aggressor country will not be able to supply oil to the EU until the end of 2022. But she will have the opportunity to do it through the Druzhba oil pipeline. Thanks to him, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic get oil.

For the sake of fairness, one more of Rikard Jozwiak's previous posts should be added. In it, the journalist says that there are no agreements among the EU members not only on the oil embargo. Moreover, although Hungary's position plays a certain role here, it is not the final one.

As it turned out, not all states liked the restrictions on purchases. Like, the new package of sanctions assumes that Russians will lose the opportunity to buy real estate in the EU. Since the citizens of the aggressor country invested in luxury housing, these states will lose a lot of money because of this restriction.

The political scientist Petr Oleshchuk would not write off Hungary. He is convinced that the country is trying in every possible way to blackmail the European Union. Moreover, not only our state, but the entire union suffers from the softness of the EU position.
