Medvedchuk's detention was extended until early August/SBU
The Lvovskiy District Court considered and granted the petition of the Office of the Prosecutor General to extend the term of the precautionary measure to the state traitor and godfather of Putin, Viktor Medvedchuk.
Thus, according to the court decision, Viktor Medvedchuk will be in custody at least until August 9 without determining the amount of bail.
The investigator judge of the Lychakovsky District Court of Lviv made such a decision on June 9. After that, the court arrested Medvedchuk's property.
The ruling can be appealed within 5 days from the date of its announcement, and to the suspect, that is, Medvedchuk in custody from the moment he was handed a copy of the ruling. under house arrest, but on April 12 he was detained by the SBU. Subsequently, the Lychakovsky District Court of Lviv arrested Putin's godfather without the right to bail.
At the same time, Ukraine considered the possibility of exchanging the detained godfather of Putin for defenders and civilians from Azovstal, but the Kremlin refused to do this.
What Viktor Medvedchuk is suspected of
In total, 4 cases were initiated against Viktor Medvedchuk:
- treason,
- coal case,
- the case of the so-called “Medvedchuk's pipe “
- and another case, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.
Putin's godfather began to testify
At the end of April, NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said that Medvedchuk began to testify not only about his activities, but also against all his business partners. According to him, the case is actively developing.
Subsequently, it became known that Medvedchuk began to testify, in which he spoke about the role of Petro Poroshenko in the so-called “coal case” and the work of the criminal scheme operating in Ukraine.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova said that at present the Office of the Prosecutor General in the case of treason Medvedchuk establishes and checks other facts of crimes in criminal proceedings. In particular, it identifies new defendants and checks the information already contained in the case. After that, the SBU reported the suspicion of high treason to the political strategist and friend of Medvedchuk Mikhail Pogrebinsky.Another suspect in this case, an associate of Putin's godfather Taras Kozak, is also now being sought. The suspect fled Ukraine in the winter of 2021.
