Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, who missed his team's first two matches at the 2025 Club World Cup, has lost weight due to an infection.

During the Club World Cup, Kylian Mbappe was hospitalized due to acute gastroenteritis. The 26-year-old footballer was later discharged from the hospital, but the infection had affected his body.

According to the Madrid club's medical service, the forward has lost between four and five kilograms. Mbappe's usual weight is about 75 kg.
Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso said at a press conference that Mbappe had returned to training but had not yet fully recovered from his illness.
“We talked after training and he decided to stay (out of the squad, – Ed. ) and recover well to be ready when we go further, if we get to the 1/8 finals. He is still recovering, not in perfect shape to play,” the coach said.
Alonso included 24 players in the squad for the third round match, including Ukrainian Andriy Lunin.
In the final round of the 2025 World Cup group stage, Real will play against Salzburg in its quartet. The match will take place at 4:00 Kyiv time on June 27.
