On the air 24 channelsLviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyy commented that in the US, each state has its own national guard. There, military formations within the state have very serious coordination and interaction.
He noted that Ukraine is a unitary country and in fact everything is centralized in our country. At the same time, in his opinion, when the laws on national resistance were adopted, one aspect was not taken into account. After all, mayors are actually excluded from the process of territorial defense, because there is a vertical line of military administrations.
We are losing tens of millions, and we are helping our brigades, the police, and the border guards. But we are doing this because it is our duty as citizens,” Andrey Sadovy said.
“I think, when the war is over, we will need to refine the legislation a little and make it wiser. After all, a problem often arises when our territorial defense brigades ask: “we urgently need vehicles”, “we urgently need special means.” Then the problem arises of how to buy it legally,” Sadovyi explained.
He explained that the state has concerns that some regions do not line up their armies. When an oligarchy reigned in the country for decades, they had such opportunities.
“The American model cannot be imposed on the Ukrainian one. However, you need to be friends with the Americans,” added Lvov's mayor.
According to him, if we had received all the weapons that we are given now in March, we would have saved thousands of people who became victims of the Russians. The Ukrainian situation is unique because most of those killed are civilians. Most of the wounded are civilians with military injuries.
