In Russia, prices have recently been rising rapidly, including for the most common product among Russians – eggs. The problem became so important that the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov himself intervened in its solution.

He ordered an inspection of chicken producers eggs and retailers regarding the rise in price of this product by 40% per year. Russian opposition leader Olga Kurnosova told Channel 24 that this rise in power is linked to the presidential elections in Russia, which are due to take place in a few months. That is why the Kremlin paid attention to eggs.

Prices are rising due to sanctions

After the statement of the Russian Prosecutor General, several Russian retail chains began to report that they would limit the markup on eggs to only 5%. However, there is a reason for this problem.

Raising chickens requires antibiotics to protect them from infections and diseases. And because of the sanctions, there are no antibiotics in Russia, nor are there any appropriate medications for treating chickens. Because of this, chickens die, and eggs become more expensive accordingly,” explained the Russian oppositionist.

Along with the prices of eggs, the prices of chicken meat have increased significantly. The poor Russian population now does not have the opportunity to buy it, because previously this meat would have been the cheapest.

“Vladimir Putin is jumping up because he needs something for his to make poor voters. So he started working on eggs,” Olga Kurnosova emphasized.
