Massive protests erupt in Serbian city of Novi Sad over train station tragedy

A large-scale protest has begun in the Serbian city of Novi Sad over the tragedy at the railway station Sergey Popovich

On Saturday, February 1, hundreds of students gathered in the Serbian city of Novi Sad to honor the victims of the tragedy that occurred three months ago at the local train station. The protesters blocked three bridges.

Protesters are expressing their dissatisfaction with the lack of responsibility for the incident. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to N1.

How the protests are going in Serbia

Two transport crossings remained blocked for three hours, and the protesters plan to hold the third until midday on February 2.

Students from different regions of Serbia joined the action, walking 80 kilometers to support the protest. The participants held banners with the slogans: “Three months is enough”, “We will stand firm”, “15 dead, 0 responsible”.

Local farmers also joined the demonstration, accompanying the procession on tractors, expressing their support for the demands of the protesters.

The tragedy that caused this wave of indignation occurred exactly three months ago. The roof of the Novi Sad train station collapsed, taking the lives of 15 people. Protesters are demanding a transparent investigation and punishment for those responsible.
