Gleb Repich, candidate of chemical sciences, spoke about this on the air of Channel 24. He explained the obvious signs of a chemical attack and what to do to escape.
The first sign of a chemical attack
According to Repic, the first sign of a chemical attack is an alarm signal, since the attack occurs as a result of artillery shelling or an air raid. Therefore, you should never ignore the sirens.
According to the candidate of chemical sciences, after an alarm, you must go to cover, because being in an open area during a chemical attack without protective equipment, the chances of surviving will be equal to zero.

Also, you can try to distinguish chemical weapons by the sound of the explosion. Repic emphasized that a conventional projectile explodes strongly to cause maximum destruction. However, chemical is dull and weak, since it should not destroy objects, but only spray chemical weapons.

What to do indoors
If you are in cover during a chemical attack, you need to seal all entrances. In the apartment, tightly close windows, doors and all ventilation openings to prevent the ingress of contaminated air inside.
What to do on the street
If the signal chemical alarm caught you outside, you should immediately seek shelter. At the same time, before entering the vault or the house, it is necessary to remove outer clothing, especially shoes.
These things can be contaminated with tiny droplets of chemical aerosol, so all this must be left outside the shelter or apartment. In addition, thoroughly wash exposed skin and hair with soap.
When in shelter or housing, you need to turn on the means of communication – TV or radio. They will give you instructions on what to do. For example, to evacuate.
What to do during the evacuation
As Repic noted, before evacuation, you need to take a first aid kit with you, as well as dress like so that the skin is well closed, so that the conditional aerosol of a chemical substance that is in the air does not touch it.
At the same time, a gas mask is an ideal respiratory protection. However, if it is not available, you can use a cotton-gauze bandage soaked in soda solution. . The real protection against such fumes is a gas mask, Repich noted.
