Mariupol City Council asks not to distribute footage of Mariupol defenders filmed by propagandists/telegram channel of Mariupol defenders
The Mariupol City Council appealed to representatives of the Ukrainian media with a request not to distribute Russian propaganda. We are talking about the cadres of our defenders, created by Russian propagandists.
The Mariupol City Council published its appeal after a number of Ukrainian media distributed footage of the defenders of Mariupol, spread by Russian propagandists. Therefore, the Ukrainian media urge to refrain from publishing such shots.
Appeal of the Mariupol City Council
The capacious council of Mariupol noted that the distribution of videos published by Russian media is playing along with propagandists. The City Council urged to respect our heroes and refrain from publishing such shots in the Ukrainian media space.
We appeal to representatives of the Ukrainian media. We ask you not to distribute video materials filmed by Russian propagandists, which depict Ukrainian heroic defenders of Mariupol who left the territory of Azovstal. Let's respect our heroes and let's not play along with the occupiers by distributing enemy materials,” the Mariupol City Council noted.

Russian propaganda only knows how to create fakes. Whatever they publish about the defenders of Mariupol, the truth remains unchanged. A striking confirmation of this is a letter from one of the Ukrainian heroes from Azovstal, whose letter was read out by his beloved at a briefing. The warrior emphasized that our defenders and defenders leave the factory territory proudly and with their heads up.
We have fulfilled our duty to the end. And we leave the factory invincible and with our heads held high. Saving the lives of our brothers is a priority and our main task in the difficult situation in which we find ourselves. We are confident in the further support of our contingent from the government of Ukraine and the entire civilized world,” wrote the defender of Azovstal.
Everything that Russian propaganda creates can be questioned. Therefore, guided by its editorial policy, Channel 24 did not distribute propaganda shots created by the Russian media, does not distribute and will not do so in any case.
We know that our heroes are rebellious and brave. Now, together with the whole country, we are looking forward to the return of the defenders of Mariupol home.
The evacuation of the defenders of Mariupol from Azovstal: the main thing
- For more than 80 days Ukrainian heroes defended Mariupol. After they ended up on the territory of the Azovstal plant, the Russians attacked with all the weapons they had, but our defenders and defenders continued to courageously defend and repulse the invaders.
- After the evacuation of civilians from the plant, which began on April 30 and lasted for several days, Russian troops again began to attack Azovstal. The defenders and their relatives began to talk about the need to evacuate them. For this, an extraction procedure was proposed – export to the territory of a third country. Our soldiers must remain there until the end of hostilities. By the way, the petition to rescue our heroes, sent to UN Secretary General António Guterres, has collected more than 1.5 million signatures.
- On May 13, Reintegration Minister Irina Vereshchuk announced that the evacuation from Azovstal would take place in several stages. She noted that Turkey would become a mediator in these negotiations.
- The operation to rescue the blocked Ukrainian military at Azovstal began on May 16. Then 53 seriously wounded defenders were evacuated and taken to a medical facility in the occupied Novoazovsk. In addition, another 211 of our defenders were taken through the humanitarian corridor to the occupied Yelenovka. All of them were promised to be returned to the territory under the control of Ukraine under the exchange procedure.
- On May 20, one of the commanders of the garrison at Azovstal, Lieutenant Colonel Denis Prokopenko, wrote down an appeal, where he said that the top military leadership had given the order to stop the defense of the city.
