Modern climatologists predict an increase in the average temperature on the planet by 2.5°C during this century.

This would exceed the agreed international warming limit by a full degree — 1.5°C, and will cause catastrophic consequences for humanity.

The Guardian study showed the corresponding conclusions after conducting a survey among the world's leading climate scientists.

The publication was able to contact 380 leading authors of reports and reviewers of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change out of 843.

Global warming — what threatens

Most respondents predict a future with mass famines and migrations, forest fires, floods and storms, the intensity and frequency of which will greatly exceed those already known to humanity.

They also indicated that they felt hopelessness, rage and fear due to the “failure of the authorities to take any action, despite the fact that there is clear scientific evidence” impending climate catastrophe.

And 6% of climate scientists believe the internationally agreed limit of 1.5°C will be met within this century.
