Kuleba noted that NATO did almost nothing to stop Russia's war in Ukraine/getty images
Many in NATO have “lost the moral and professional right” to comment on Ukraine.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba at the World Economic Forum in Davos on May 25.
As soon as a political decision is made that “they belong next to us, we are one” – everything else will be added. As long as there is no such political solution, there are hundreds of arguments why this is impossible. We understand how it works. But I think that many in NATO have lost the moral and professional right to make any comments about Ukraine,” Kuleba said.
NATO does nothing to support Ukraine
Kuleba stressed that the North Atlantic Alliance as an institution does nothing for Ukraine, while the EU makes “revolutionary” decisions to help our country.
At the beginning of the war, the people of Ukraine believed that NATO was a powerful force, and the EU could only express different levels of concern, but war is always a test that takes off the masks. We have seen ground breaking decisions taken by the EU that they themselves did not expect to take. And we see NATO as an alliance, an institution that stands by and does literally nothing. I say this with regret,” Kuleba said.
NATO is hypocritical in supporting Ukraine
Therefore, Kuleba noted that this is probably the decision of the Alliance itself – not to allow NATO as institutions to act under these circumstances due to alleged concern about a possible war between Russia and NATO
“However, when it comes to the accession of Finland and Sweden , no one says that this increases the risk that NATO and Russia are approaching war,” the minister noted and added that, in his opinion, there is an “element of hypocrisy” in this.
Briefly about the forum in Davos
- The war in Ukraine is the topic of this forum. suggests that Davos 2022 could be another launching point for the Marshall Plan for Ukraine.
- The Financial Times has included Ukraine's post-war renewal as one of its top 5 themes to follow at the Davos Forum 2022.
- By the way, for the first time in 25 years the forum is held without Russia. The aggressor country was not invited to the most prestigious economic event, moreover, the group was banned from the summit – this is a signal to Putin about isolation in the civilized world.
- At the same time, the summit was not without a Russian trace. A shameful statement was made by former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. He said that Ukraine must give part of the territories to Russia in order to achieve peace with Russia.
By the way, today, May 25, adviser to the head of the President's Office Mikhail Podolyak stressed that no one is interested in this war, however Ukraine is not going to compromise with Russia, as some Western partners suggest.
