Maguchikh's victory at the 2024 Olympics — a historic event for Ukraine
The first place in the high jump at the Olympic level was the first not only for Mahuchikh herself.
This is the first gold won in this discipline for all of Ukraine.
Previously, track and field athletes representing Ukraine in the high jump received only bronze.
This happened as many as four times: Mahuchikh in Tokyo 2020, Inga Babakova in Atlanta 1996, Vita Stepina in Athens 2004 and Bohdan Bondarenko in Rio 2016.
