Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz and Mario Draghi arrived in Kyiv on the morning of June 16. Politicians will meet with Volodymyr Zelensky in the capital of Ukraine.
Politicians will visit de-occupied settlements
French media published a video showing that Macron is already at the train station in Kyiv. He got off the train accompanied by a delegation and guards. Draghi and Scholz are not visible in the video.
The French President told reporters that negotiations with Zelensky are very important for him, German Chancellor Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. Politicians plan to visit the settlements of the Kyiv region, which were previously under Russian occupation, in order to see with their own eyes the crimes of Putin's army.
Macron stressed that his visit to our state is very symbolic for Ukrainians.
This is a message of European unity addressed to Ukrainians. Support in talking about the present and the future, because the coming weeks will be very difficult, the foreign leader stressed.

At the same time, the German Chancellor in Kyiv is accompanied by the German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen. Scholz told reporters that he would help Ukraine as much as needed.
During this visit, we want to not only show our solidarity, we also want to ensure that the help we organizing: financial, humanitarian, military – continued, – the chancellor noted.
Pay attention! This is the first time since the beginning of a full-scale war, Macron, Scholz and Draghi came to Ukraine.
Recall that earlier journalists published photos of politicians from the train. Macron, Scholz and Draghi sat at the table and chatted cheerfully. They got to Kyiv in the same way as other foreign leaders – by the Ukrzaliznytsia train. After all, now it is the safest and most comfortable way.
Why European leaders came to Ukraine
Macron, Scholz and Draghi want to show Ukraine support for European aspirations. After all, soon the European Commission should announce a conclusion on whether our country will be granted a charter of a candidate for EU membership.
At the same time, politicians themselves have ambiguous views on supporting Ukraine. After all, Germany is actively accused of providing few weapons to Kyiv. Macron was generally embarrassed earlier by the phrase that Ukraine needs to make territorial concessions in order to “save face to Vladimir Putin.” Italy also favors a diplomatic solution to the war.
