French President Emmanuel Macron believes that Ukraine should conduct “realistic discussions” on territorial issues, because only Ukrainians can do this. According to Macron, such discussions will help resolve the issue of war with Russia.

This statement by the French leader was made during the annual meeting of French ambassadors. This was reported by 24 Channel with reference to BFMTV.

What Macron said about the war in Ukraine

The French President believes that the United States should help change the nature of the situation and convince Russia to sit down at the negotiating table. While the primary responsibility of Europeans will be to “build security guarantees” for Ukraine.

Against the backdrop of Donald Trump's promises to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, Macron also assured that in the current circumstances one should not expect a “quick and easy solution” to a full-scale Russian invasion.

The new American president himself knows that the United States has no chance of winning anything if Ukraine loses, the French leader says.

He also added that the capitulation of the Ukrainians will not benefit either the Europeans or the Americans. In addition, Macron noted that trust in the West will be undermined if Trump agrees to a compromise due to “conflict fatigue”.
