The Bundestag criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, calling him a “brake” in efforts to support Ukraine. At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron was called a “driving force.”

This statement was made by the Chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann. She also praised Macron for his efforts in support of Ukraine.

Chairman of the Bundestag Committee believes that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is a kind of “brake” in the matter of efforts to support Ukraine. Thus, commenting on Macron’s statement about the possible introduction of NATO troops into Ukraine, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann noted that Macron is the driving force in this.

Germany is certainly not obliged to share this assessment, but it is striking that Macron is the driving force. “The chancellor is a drag,” said the chairwoman of the Bundestag committee.

She also added that, obviously, the influence of Putin’s warning against direct Western intervention in a full-scale war in Ukraine was stronger in Berlin, than in Paris.
