It recently became known that the Belarusian dictator plans to discuss a new security doctrine for his state, taking into account the receipt of nuclear weapons from Russia. However, not a single 100% reliable confirmation of the presence of such weapons in Lukashenko’s possession has yet been made public.

At the same time, the latest reports about nuclear weapons in Belarus are more reminiscent of the IPSO agreed upon between the Kremlin and Lukashenko. The Belarusian oppositionist, head of the “White Legion” Sergei Bulba spoke about this 24 Channel.

How Lukashenko’s attitude towards nuclear weapons could have changed

Lukashenko lost all interest in nuclear weapons after he realized that Putin would not return those transferred to Russia after the collapse USSR Belarusian warheads. Instead, he simply moved Russian nuclear weapons onto the territory of Belarus, which is why Lukashenko did not have the opportunity to independently dispose of them.

“At the last CSTO meeting in St. Petersburg, when Russian journalists asked about nuclear weapons, Lukashenko answered with dull eyes. He is no longer happy (this topic – Channel 24), although at the beginning (of this process – Channel 24) he was happy like a child , that he received such a “toy” that will allow him to lead Belarus until the end of his days,” Bulba noted.

Accordingly, the latest changes in the doctrine simply extend the understanding to nuclear weapons the fact that when martial law is declared, Belarusian troops become part of a joint group with Russian ones. And if Russia uses nuclear weapons, Belarus, according to the doctrine, will be ready to assist it in this.

What is known about Belarus receiving nuclear weapons

  • Intentions to provide Minsk nuclear weapons were first announced in March 2023, ostensibly in response to what the West transferred to Ukraine tank shells with depleted uranium. This step, among other things, violated the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which is relevant for all members of the “nuclear club”.
  • After this statement, construction of a nuclear warhead storage facility began on the territory of Belarus, which with delays, it was built at the end of July. At the same time, a message was received from US intelligence sources that already in July Russian nuclear weapons ended up in Belarus. Andrzej Duda. And at the end of 2023, this information was once again confirmed by Lukashenko himself, noting that Russia delivered all the promised weapons in September – October.
