The Belarusian army is being prepared for the transition from peacetime to wartime. However, the risks of an invasion of Ukraine are still minimal.

Victor Andrusov, adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, spoke about this. According to him, Alyaksandr Lukashenka can prepare so-called emergency exits in order to plan actions for the time Russia loses the war.

“In fact, Belarus is a de facto annexed country. He (Lukashenko – Channel 24) performs a specific task – to create a threat in order to deter our troops,” said the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

All these are pure maneuvers, he (Lukashenko – Channel 24) does not pose any threat to us,” Viktor Andrusov said.

He added that for the time being, one should not be afraid of the Belarusian troops, but they can still create big problems for us if they invade. However, it will only end badly for them.

At the same time, Andrusiv added that one should not underestimate the threat from Belarus, so there is another problem.

“We are forced to hold a fairly large group of troops in the northern direction to repel their possible invasion. But we really needed these troops would be in the Kherson region or in the Donbass,” the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said. The self-proclaimed president of Belarus wants to increase his army from 45,000 to 80,000, almost doubling it. However, military-political observer Alexander Kovalenko noted that this would not significantly improve the situation of Alexander Lukashenko.

  • According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, until June 11, 2022, the armed forces of Belarus are working out the creation of strike groups in one of the directions. At the same time, they check the readiness of the transport infrastructure.
  • Valery Kovalevsky, head of the Cabinet of representatives of the oppositionist Svyatlana Tikhanovskaya, also emphasized that the maneuvers on the border from Belarus are aimed at pulling the Ukrainian military away from the places where they are needed most. However, the threat of an offensive by Lukashenka's army should not be underestimated.
  • According to NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov, the military leadership of Ukraine knows all the risks from the Belarusian army and is ready for developments.
