Ukraine continues to search for those who are considered missing. According to Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets, our state is introducing a new tool for this.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights announced this on his Facebook. He noted that the introduction of the relevant instrument was discussed in Ankara. In the capital of Turkey, he met with his Russian colleague Tatyana Moskalkova. And they reached a common denominator.
What the new mechanism suggests
According to Lubinets, citizens of our state can apply to the Commissioner. In it they can get or check the necessary data related to missing persons. We are talking about those who may either be on the territory of Russia or in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Based on the results of communication with the Russian side, the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine will give answers to citizens of Ukraine, to public associations and to everyone who asked for help,” wrote Lubinets.
Attention! To do this, you can apply for one of these numbers: 0800-50-17-20, 044-299-74-08. Or choose one of the contact options listed on the Ombudsman's website.
In order to get comprehensive and effective interaction, it is recommended to provide detailed information about wanted persons when contacting. If we talk about public associations, institutions and organizations, then they should provide the available documents in a comprehensive manner. These are wanted lists. In fact, they should contain the available and necessary data that will help to quickly find the missing.
The ICRC President is going to Moscow
The press service of the ICRC reported that its President Mirjana Spolyarić will arrive in Moscow this week. She will be on a working visit to the capital of Russia. During it, the access of the committee staff to prisoners of war will be discussed.
The absolute priority for President Spolyarić is to ensure that ICRC delegates can regularly visit prisoners of war, and ensure that the latter are treated humanely in accordance with with international humanitarian law,” the press release says.
The organization notes that they striveto obtain full and regular access to all prisoners of war.And this should not be affected by their location. We suspect that with these words the ICRC decided to hint at the colony in Yelenovka.
In addition, the organization claims that they are ready to become a “neutral intermediary.” This implies a desire to participate in the exchange of prisoners of war, as well as in other areas of humanitarian activity.
