Lost control over part of their territories: how the events in Kursk region influenced the Kremlin's position Dzvenislava Moshovskaya

Western media have published information that the operation of the Defense Forces in the Kursk region allegedly disrupted probable secret negotiations on a partial cessation of hostilities in Ukraine. It is said that such indirect agreements were to take place in Qatar.

Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko told 24 Channel that a conference on energy security issues was indeed supposed to take place in Qatar. This is one of the events on the way to the Second Peace Summit. It was known about it, but there was no mention of negotiations anywhere.

Secret agreements

Vladimir Fesenko noted that the source of information about the allegedly secret agreements on a partial ceasefire is an anonymous representative of Russia.

The aggressor country, immediately after the start of the offensive in the Kursk region, began to promote the narrative that peace talks are allegedly failing due to the actions of Ukraine. However, the political scientist noted that there were no negotiations, and what Russia proposed were only ultimatums.

I will remind you that Putin demanded that Ukraine abandon NATO, give up Kherson and Zaporozhye. And this was only so that negotiations on a ceasefire could begin. Of course, such conditions are unacceptable for us and the Ukrainian side has told the Russians about this, he said.

According to Fesenko, the only thing that fell through as a result of the military operation in the Kursk region was negotiations on Russian terms.

“Now the Russians will have to negotiate in the future, given the fact that they have lost control over part of the Kursk region. And the occupiers really don't like this,” the political scientist emphasized.

He added that real agreements between Ukraine and Russia can begin only when there are no ultimatums.
