Nine minutes later, the Merseysiders earned the right to take a penalty, but Mohamed Salah hit the post from the penalty spot.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper of the royal club Andriy Lunin spent the match against Liverpool on the bench. In Real's goal stood the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, who recovered from an injury.

Liverpool remains the only team in the current Champions League who have not yet dropped points. The Reds are leading with 15 points and occupy first place. Real has only six points and is in 24th place.
