In response to the sending of North Korean soldiers to the war against Ukraine, European countries should consider the proposal of French President Emmanuel Macron to deploy EU troops to Ukraine.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said this in an interview with Politico.
Lithuania calls on the West to send EU troops to Ukraine
The Foreign Minister believes that if rumors about the involvement of DPRK soldiers are confirmed, Europe should return to considering the idea of “boots on the ground”.

– If the information that Russian assassination squads are equipped with North Korean ammunition and troops is confirmed, we should return to “boots on the ground” and other ideas proposed by Macron, Landsbergis said
Macron voiced this proposal back in February, but then German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected it, stressing that no troops, whether European or NATO, would be deployed on Ukrainian territory.
“Unfortunately, we are lagging behind again and acting passively, but I believe in our common ability to take all necessary proactive steps to put President Macron’s ideas into action,” Landsbergis said.
Western leaders are now cautious about reports of North Koreans joining Russia’s side in the war against Ukraine.
For example, the French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu stated that information about the participation of DPRK soldiers came only from Ukraine and South Korea, so he cannot comment on this without evidence.
While the White House reported that the probable participation of the North Korean army in the war against Ukraine is a dangerous and alarming scenario.
It is noted that the White House itself has not confirmed the involvement of DPRK soldiers. Washington is currently studying this issue.
