The United States has provided Ukraine with 18 autotransformers, which should provide light to millions of Ukrainians.

This was announced by the press service of NEC Ukrenergo, responding to the message of the US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, made on August 1 in X (former Twitter).

The head of the American diplomatic mission in Kiev reported that 18 autotransformers and other equipment that will help support the Ukrainian energy system have arrived in Ukraine under the USAID program.

— While Russia is cold-bloodedly trying to destroy the Ukrainian energy grid, we are determined to restore it. I am proud that USAID purchased 18 autotransformers, and that's not all. Such actions will help preserve Ukraine's power grid despite Russian attacks and provide electricity to 38 million Ukrainians, Bridget Brink said.

In turn, Ukrenergo stated that some of this equipment “is already operating at Ukrenergo facilities, providing electricity to the homes of millions of Ukrainians“.

— In the context of Russia's armed aggression, the ability to replace equipment damaged by missiles and drones with new equipment is the most important, after air defense, means of protecting Ukraine's energy security, — explained the energy company.

The company clarified that it is about the delivery of 18 high-voltage autotransformers for the Ukrenergo backbone network.

— The new autotransformers are part of a large joint project between USAID and NEC Ukrenergo to restore Ukrainian energy facilities after Russian strikes. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, USAID has transferred equipment and personal protective equipment to NEC Ukrenergo worth more than $80 million, — the message says.
