Miroslav Simchich distinguished himself in the Battle of Rushir near Kosmach against the NKVD and other Soviet divisions. The battle lasted 3 days, in which the centurion was injured, but continued to fight – after the victorious battle was over, Simchich lost consciousness from loss of blood.

Simchich gave his last fight in 1948, after which he was arrested and convicted for his activities in the UPA. In total, the Hero of Ukraine spent more than 32 years in concentration camps.
