Russia has lost an A-50 reconnaissance aircraft based at the Machulishchi airfield in Belarus. But there is no official confirmation of this information from the aggressor country.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov told Channel 24 about this. He added that there are 9 such aircraft in Russia. Among them, 3 Soviet A-50s are in storage. And 6 aircraft were upgraded. According to him, the cost of one such aircraft is about $330 million.

The plane can be replaced

The military expert noted that it is not known how many of these six aircraft are “on the wing” and can perform combat work.

2 A-50s so accurately, so the Russians can simply replace the plane that suffered from the “pop”, he stressed.

Zhdanov drew attention to the fact that the arrival of Il-76 and An-26 transport aircraft at Machulishchi was recorded. It is they who belong to the 610th brigade, which is armed with these A-50s.

In his opinion, most likely, they examined the technical condition of this aircraft and found out whether it was possible to restore it. But if there is a replacement for this A-50, it will take several weeks.

Belarusian partisans did a good job

“We can assume that the Belarusian partisans did a very good job. By the way, they took responsibility for damaging the aircraft. Thanks to this, the air force and especially the missile forces of Russia were left without eyes for a while,” he said.

According to him, this aircraft determined the coordinates of targets on the territory of Ukraine for the missile forces and aviation of the aggressor country. Then massive missile strikes throughout Ukraine were carried out at these coordinates.

“Especially in the North, because the reconnaissance range of the A-50 is about 500 kilometers,” Oleg Zhdanov stressed.
