Thousands of people took to the streets in the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, to protest against the foreign policy of Prime Minister Robert Fico.
The reason for their outrage was the prime minister's visit to Moscow at the end of 2024, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, writes Aktuality.
What the protesters accuse Fico of
More than 4,000 people took part in the protest. Participants held posters with the slogans Fico, Go to Moscow, Leave Slovakia Alone, and Slovakia, Beware, the Occupation Has Begun.

The organizers handed out posters to the protesters, created by the artist Rudolf Sikora. On one side was the word Betrayal, and on the other was the slogan We Are Europe.
The protesters also waved the flags of the European Union and Slovakia, and during the action the EU anthem, which the organizers called their own, was played.
Sikora noted the importance of uniting public activists with opposition forces. He called on the opposition to work together “to fight evil”.
The Prime Minister discussed gas supplies from the Russian Federation with Putin
At the end of 2024, Prime Minister Robert Fico visited Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the talks, they discussed Russian gas supplies to Slovakia.
This trip caused a storm of criticism from the opposition. The leader of the Progressive Slovakia party, Michal Šimečka, called it a disgrace to the country and a betrayal of national interests.
By the way, Fico threatened to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine and reduce support for Ukrainians who are in Slovakia due to our country stopping gas transit from the Russian Federation.
